Job Title: WordPress Developer

Division: Innovation Technology

Reports To: Director of Digital Product Management

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to develop, maintain, and enhance internal and business websites. The role will involve custom WordPress development, website performance, security, troubleshooting, and working closely with business and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain responsive, high-performance WordPress websites.

Convert Figma designs into responsive and user-friendly web pages.

Develop custom WordPress themes, plugins, blocks, and features.

Work with Gutenberg, React, REST APIs, hooks, and filters.

Review existing websites for performance, SEO, accessibility, security, and coding standards.

Troubleshoot WordPress core, theme, plugin, and integration issues.

Manage code using Git and Bitbucket.

Work with WP Engine hosting environment.

Optimize websites for site speed and Core Web Vitals.

Work with product managers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend technical solutions.

Provide development estimates for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

Review third-party themes, plugins, vendor proposals, and technical estimates.

Maintain technical documentation for websites, custom blocks, plugins, and architecture.

Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities.

Required Skills

4+ years of professional web development experience.

Strong hands-on experience with WordPress development and architecture.

Advanced knowledge of:

PHP

HTML5

CSS3 / SASS

JavaScript

MySQL

Strong experience with Gutenberg and custom block development.

Experience with custom WordPress themes and plugins.

Knowledge of React or Vue.js.

Experience with WordPress REST API, hooks, and filters.

Experience with Git and Bitbucket.

Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, website security, and performance optimization.

Experience with Core Web Vitals.

Knowledge of WP Engine is preferred.

Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

Good communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
