Our client is seeking a motivated Junior PHP / WordPress Developer to join their web development team in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal. This office-based opportunity is ideal for a junior developer with a solid foundation in WordPress and PHP who is eager to grow within a professional development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update existing WordPress websites.
- Perform WordPress core, theme and plugin updates.
- Troubleshoot website bugs and functionality issues.
- Assist with website backups and basic security checks.
- Support the development of new WordPress websites.
- Implement designs using WordPress themes and page builders.
- Make front-end and back-end website modifications.
- Customise WordPress functionality using PHP.
- Test websites across different browsers and devices.
- Assist with basic client technical support.
- Investigate hosting, email, DNS and SSL-related issues.
- Escalate complex technical matters to senior developers when required.
Requirements
- 1–2 years' experience working with WordPress websites.
- Basic to intermediate PHP knowledge.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with MySQL databases.
- Experience working with WordPress themes and plugins.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Advantageous
- Elementor, Divi or similar page-builder experience.
- WooCommerce.
- Basic cPanel or Plesk knowledge.
- Git version control.
- Digital agency experience.
- Understanding of SEO best practices.
