Are you a WordPress Developer who prefers writing custom parts over assembling pre-made ones? We value the craft of development. We’re looking for a seasoned pro (4+ years) who is the 'Oracle' of all things WordPress and WooCommerce. From complex API integrations to pixel-perfect custom themes, you’ll be the technical backbone of our digital projects. If you are methodical, self-driven, and looking for a team that respects elegant code as much as you do, we’re ready for you to step up to the plate.
1. Technical Scoping & Architecture
The WordPress Oracle: Act as the primary technical lead for all WordPress projects, from initial scoping and planning to final implementation.
Architecture Design: Map out complex site structures and database logic to ensure scalability and performance.
2. Custom Development (Building from Scratch)
Custom Themes & Plugins: Develop bespoke WordPress themes and plugins tailored to specific client needs—no "marketplace assembly" allowed.
WooCommerce Engineering: Bend WooCommerce to your will, creating seamless, high-converting e-commerce experiences.
API Integrations: Build and manage custom API integrations (REST, JSON) that connect WordPress to the wider digital ecosystem.
3. Performance & SEO Optimization
Speed & Functionality: Write clean, efficient code to ensure lightning-fast load times.
Search Engine Ready: Structure sites so that search engines "roll out the red carpet" for our clients' content.
4. Maintenance & Quality Control
Proactive QA: Perform rigorous testing and bug fixes before projects go live, ensuring a "zero-defect" launch.
Site Health: Oversee ongoing website maintenance, security updates, and troubleshooting to keep platforms running smoothly.
Database Management: Manage MySQL databases and optimize hosting environments (cPanel, WHM, sFTP).
5. Technical Support & Collaboration
Digital Spirit Guide: Occasionally lead clients through their CMS, teaching them how to manage their content with confidence.
Version Control: Manage code repositories using Git, ensuring clean merges and organized documentation.
Collaborative Problem Solving: Work alongside designers and account managers to ensure the technical vision aligns with the creative one.
Technical Requirements
Experience: Minimum 4+ years of professional experience in WordPress development (Agency experience preferred).
WordPress Core: Expert-level knowledge of WordPress internals, including custom themes, plugin development, functions, and hooks.
E-commerce: Solid experience building and customizing WooCommerce environments.
The Languages: High proficiency in the "usual suspects": PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
Data & Integration: Proven experience with API integrations (REST, JSON) and MySQL database management.
Version Control: Proficiency with Git (merging branches without losing your cool).
Hosting & DevOps: Working knowledge of hosting environments, specifically cPanel, WHM, Plesk, and sFTP.
Education & Portfolio
Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio or GitHub link demonstrating custom-built sites, plugins, or complex integrations is mandatory.
Education: A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is advantageous, but we value proven skills and shipped code above all else.
Preferred (The "Bonus" Points)
Linux Mastery: Ability to wield Linux like a medieval swordsmith.
Design Savvy: Basic competency in Photoshop (or equivalent) for image resizing and web optimization.
SEO Best Practices: Understanding of technical SEO from a developer’s perspective.
Soft Skills & Attributes (The "Ideal You")
Logical Thinker: You approach problems methodically and understand the "why" behind website architecture.
Detail-Oriented: You have a "one-pixel-off" radar; tiny misalignments genuinely bother you.
Reliable & Disciplined: You are self-driven and can manage your time effectively to hit deadlines without constant hand-holding.
Great Communicator: You speak and write like a human (clear, professional, and grammatically correct).
