We are seeking a skilled and experienced WordPress Developer and Platform Subject Matter Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the WordPress platform and be capable of taking our WordPress projects to the next level through innovative development, maintenance, and optimization. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and managing WordPress themes, templates, and plugins, while adhering to best practices in PHP and web development. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, performance-driven websites.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Design, develop, and maintain WordPress themes, templates, and plugins to meet project requirements.
  • Act as the WordPress platform subject matter expert, offering insights, guidance, and recommendations to the team.
  • Collaborate with designers, content creators, and other developers to ensure a seamless and engaging user experience.
  • Optimize website performance by implementing best practices for speed, scalability, and security.
  • Develop custom design patterns and reusable components for various WordPress projects to streamline development.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and tools to extend and enhance website functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, including bugs, performance problems, and functionality errors.
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and best practices.
  • Manage version control using GitLab, with a preference for experience in CI/CD pipeline workflows.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in WordPress development, applying new technologies and best practices as appropriate.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience as a WordPress Developer, with a portfolio demonstrating a range of projects and technical expertise.
  • Proficient in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL, with the ability to develop custom WordPress themes, templates, and plugins.
  • Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, including hooks, filters, and best practices.
  • Experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and their implementation in WordPress development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality, performance, and user experience.
