Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced WordPress Developer to join our client’s team. In addition to WordPress expertise, the ideal candidate will have experience in creating and debugging responsive HTML emails for internal and client marketing as well as upgrading legacy PHP applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects, enhance website functionality, and modernize legacy systems.

You will play a critical role in both maintaining WordPress sites, improving the legacy PHP codebase and supporting the marketing team.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
  • Customize existing themes and plugins to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure WordPress sites are responsive, optimized for performance, and SEO-friendly.
  • Create and maintain code snippets for additional business needs e.g. reports and integration with other systems
  • Maintain and update WordPress sites as required
  • Create and debug responsive HTML emails for internal and client marketing purposes, ensuring they render as required across the most popular devices
  • Improve existing legacy PHP applications
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to create high-quality websites and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website and application issues and bugs.
  • Implement modern development practices and improve existing workflows.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends, particularly in WordPress.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a WordPress Developer with a portfolio of past projects.
  • Strong experience with custom WordPress theme and plugin development.
  • Familiarity with WordPress REST API and other integrations.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles.
  • Knowledge of website performance optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Experience of creating HTML emails with code (i.e. not an email builder) and he ability to debug any issues relating to devices
  • Experience of working with and refactoring legacy PHP applications
  • Solid understanding of MVC principles and experience using a modern MVC framework.
  • Experience of working with Laravel framework – Not Essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A responsible and pragmatic approach to documentation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
